The Man from Earth

Attention absolute masterpiece! It's been a while since I had not taken much pleasure to enjoy a movie of this caliber. Fascinating and moving, it's totally enjoyable. Finally a work worthy of the Seventh Art. A great moment in cinema for a film already cult! And yet, no special effects, no flashbacks, no action or almost but sometimes heavy atmosphere, actors at the height, a perfect realization and especially a scenario extremely well put together make The Man from Earth a remarkable film in every sense. Made with a budget of only $ 200,000, this camera fantastico-philosophical demonstrates that there is no need tricks to make a fascinating and captivating. So much so that she trotted in your mind long after viewing. This film also won the Best Screenplay and Best Film Festival Rhode Island in August 2007, and an Appointment to the Saturn Award and the Best DVD release.
Finally, if I tell you he is in the list of 50 best science fiction films of all time (on IMDb), you understand that The Man from Earth is a must!

Before going further, let's look at the synopsis that might at first to smile, so it could be classified in the B-movie scenario unlikely. It would commit the grossest of errors:

"John Oldman, a history professor at the University, decides at the age of 35 years to drop everything. While he prepares his move his academic friends make him a surprise visit. They reveal his true identity: he is an immortal who is over 14 000 years. Traveling in Asia, he was a disciple of the Buddha. It later came to teach in the West thought of it, but his message was transformed and betrayed ... A revelation that will challenge all faiths for their assistance ... .

Amused and naturally skeptical at first, the friends of John compounds include an anthropologist, an archaeologist, a literalist Christian and a psychologist subtly but inexorably slip into a hopeless doubt return. Why? Because the speech of John contains no flaw. So they find themselves confronted with themselves and their own weaknesses. Exploring the mysteries of humanity is not safe for our narrow mind. Accordingly, their convictions sorely tested will eventually crumble slowly but surely, until shattered. Finally, the fall offers us a final The Fourth Dimension. Just note that the scenario was written by renowned science fiction author Jerome Bixby, writer of one of the episodes of the cult series.

The major advantage of
The Man from Earth is to raise as many questions as protagonists in the viewer. It invites us to question our anxieties of old age and death, and make us doubt our religious beliefs, the extent of our knowledge and the future of mankind.

Unfortunately, this film is available on DVD only in USA (Internet or ). I find it appalling that a film of this depth is not distributed worldwide, especially in France. Another regret: this movie is too short (87 minutes)! I am convinced it would have been just as engaging if its duration had been extended by one hour.

In conclusion, and you'll understand that this is a film that is primarily for the intelligence of the viewer. The Man from Earth managed the feat to captivate us and take us only through the power of dialogue. Therefore, this work falls into the category of films that we love or hate. But one thing is certain: it will not leave you indifferent. A movie to watch again and again for sure.

Instructions For Using Disclosing Tablets

Ghost writers

In Lyon, the capital city of saplings and symbolical for the student that I summer, a publishing house publishes new talent. It moreover held shop at the last Salon du Livre in Paris. Souls writer, tenors of the edition you stare? They earn enough living with Paul Auster and Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt. Self-publishing makes you afraid? Too confidential. Why not try your luck with editions Baudelaire ? Since 2007, they scrutinize the manuscripts, settle and reveal the unknown. Although inspired, two authors have knocked at their door. Ludovic Slate, teacher, takes its readers on a ghostly Course in Scottish castles . As for Jacqueline Kaatje, which is the pen name, she published a collection of tender and unusual News the borders of the mystery and fantasy. Two opportunities to dream, to flirt with the supernatural and legends, to trample the imagination of the writers of the shadow.
Ludovic Slate gives us his vision of Scotland, the ghosts and haunted castles. A destination for lovers of old stones and supernatural stories. Well documented, his travelogue guide our steps from Edinburgh throughout the country in the direction of clockwise. However, from the sofa, the remote discovery of these memorials, which stretch like a rosary, is tedious. For in Scotland, every corner has a castle and each building has its ghost. Suddenly, all the stories and are very similar. Simply text provides only the facts, a vision in two dimensions. To give relief, of emotion, authenticity, you should go there. Thus, if one recognizes the author of some talent collector, it deplores the lack of narrative thread in which he is liable, more involved, would offer his confidence, his feelings. For, in the land of ghosts, all travel must be initiatory part of oneself. Accordingly, the book is didactic Slate Ludovic but not enough staff. Far from the source, it loses its power. But, as I would have liked to have him with me as fellow traveler, a few years ago, during my stay in Scotland, my honeymoon!

Among the new mysterious Kaatje Jacqueline, one of them hit the nostalgia of the castles that I am. Those who suffer from neglect or lack of maintenance, and that their owners are trying to save, by all means. Amazing coincidence, I recently made a weekend in Le Perche, a few kilometers from the imaginary castle is the setting for this novel, The Phantom of the Danseray : Towards Montmirail, it stopped raining and the Vibraye sky cleared frankly. In a turn of the narrow road they followed for some time, the mansion Danseray appeared to them, superb, right in the middle of a large sunspot. . A pianist, dancer helped her friend, as the project fit a ballet performance to raise funds to finance the renovation of the castle of his grandfather. Yet the love story behind the two artists is disrupted by the arrival of the ghost family. A simple plot but realistic, agreed to the outcome (I imagined the worst!), Where the paranormal is normal. Other stories plunge the reader into the same strange and poetic atmosphere. Far from the macabre and chilling supernatural, here is a collection of short stories that flatter the tender souls of light humor.

Fantastic literature is not good news from big publishers. Yet, to quote Charles Baudelaire, "the beautiful is always bizarre." The imaginative and lively style of many authors, most ignored, deserve more respect. Let us be vigilant so as not to miss.
